Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, located in south-western Uganda in the Kanungu District. The forest is on the edge of the Albertine Rift, the western branch of the East African Rift, at elevations ranging from 1,160 to 2,607 metres.

Bwindi forest National Park presently become a first stop Center for most Gorilla safari tours to Africa. The impenetrable forest is one of the two Gorilla destinations in the world together with the Virunga conservation area shared by Mgahinga National park, volcanoes National park and Virunga National park.

The park is a home to half of the world’s mountain Gorillas, which make it a best gorilla destination with 17 gorilla families available for trekking.

Gorilla Trekking:

Bwindi Forest is one of the best places in the world to go gorilla trekking.  However, you can join a guided trek to search for one of the habituated gorilla families and spend a magical hour observing these incredible primates in their natural habitat. Gorilla trekking requires a permit, which should be obtained in advance due to limited availability.

Nature Walks and Hiking:

Bwindi Forest offers various nature trails and hiking opportunities for those looking to explore the park’s diverse ecosystems. You can take guided walks through the forest, where you’ll have the chance to see various bird species, monkeys, butterflies, and other wildlife. The Munyanga River Trail and Rushura Hill Trail are popular options.
